Coimbatore, Jan. 6

Archeologists led by Tamilnarasi Karpagam have stumbled upon a bull-taming statue in Thondmuthur region. The statue is said to have an antiquity of over 6000 years.

According to Tamilnarasi Karpagam of Tamil Marabusar Arvalargal Sangam, the find is a significant one as it points to the prevalence of Eruthaluvuthal (an ancient form of Jallikattu) in the region.

Over the ages, the rare stones and statues have been used for the worship by the public without knowing its significance.

The people of the area are performing poojas and worshipping the statue for years, without knowing its antiquity. The team has also found a sathikal in the same region.
